Learn to Use the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale

Virtual

About the Workshop

The Columbia Protocol, also known as the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), supports suicide risk screening through a series of simple, plain-language questions that anyone can ask. The answers help users identify whether someone is at risk for suicide, determine the severity and immediacy of that risk, and gauge the level of support that the person needs. The Columbia Protocol questions use plain and direct language most effectively eliciting honest and clear responses.

You Will Learn:
  • How to screen with the C-SSRS to identify at-risk individuals
  • How to utilize best practices to identify suicidal ideation and behavior with precision
  • The types of suicidal ideation and the four behaviors that are predictive of imminent risk
  • How to administer the C-SSRS screener, listing long-term and short-term risks and protective factors
